Trouble during Faxing
This section describes how to solve fax problems.
Note • The fax features are not available for some models. An optional package is necessary. For
more information, contact our Customer Support Center.
Sending Problems
Follow the procedure below if you cannot send a fax.
A Transmission Report -
Undelivered is output.
Cause The fax was not sent due to an error.
No Action Check the [Transmission Results] in the Transmission
Report - Undelivered. If an error code is on the report, refer
to "Error Code" (P.470).
The phone connection has
a problem.
Cause The phone cable is not connected correctly.
No Action The machine equips some connectors to connect phone
cables to. The communication is disabled unless the
phone cable is connected to a correct connector.
When the cable connection is correct, the on-hook feature
allows you to call through general lines.
Cause The phone line type is incorrect.
Action Set the line type on the machine to the same type as the
contracted line type (Tone/10pps).
Cause An error occurred with the phone line.
Action Use a telephone near the machine to check whether to be
able to make a phone call. If the phone call is disabled, the
problem is the phone line, not the machine.
Cause The destination machine is abnormal.
Action The data cannot be sent if the destination machine
condition is one of the following: the power is off, the
receiving mode is manual, or the G3 reception mode is not
supported.
Make a phone call to the destination to check the fax
condition.
The sending operation is
incorrect.
Cause An incorrect fax number is used.
No Action Check the fax number and try sending again.
Cause The number is not for fax.
Action If no peep sound is heard from the receiver when you call
the number, the number is not for fax.
