EAS Peripheral
Touch the {Peripherals} button, and in the “Engineering” column, you will see the {EAS...}
menu link button.
This is where you will setup the visual appearance; background, text color etc. of the incoming
EAS alert.
In the “Main Settings” parameter controls, select the “GPI” that receives the incoming EAS alert.
The EAS system (e.g. Sage ENDEC) generates closed contact relay event when an EAS alert is
received. This main GPI can be input into the Masterpiece system and can be used to define
when an alert is in progress and to display the Character Generator, and the Audio. When the
GPI is in the closed state a warning (EAS Alert Active) flashes in the top right corner of the
Masterpiece MLC GUI. The alert will flash in every selected menu.
There are 3 levels of severity determined by the incoming information from the Sage ENDEC
system, the incoming information into Masterpiece will override whatever is being broadcast
on the selected output. The visual information being displayed by Masterpiece is setup in the
EAS Setup menu. Visual information being the background color and the color and size of the
text being displayed as a warning message.
Font and Font Size - determines the font used and size of the font to generate the EAS
Character stream.
Scroll Rate and Repeat Count - determines the rate of the crawl and the number of times it
should be repeated. If you have selected a GPI the crawl will be removed when the GPI clears.
Please note that at least one complete crawl will be completed regardless of GPI and repeat
count.
By law the Character crawl has to be displayed at least twice. This can be set by minimum
repeat count 2.
Note: If the Repeat Count is set to "for Ever or greater than 2" the message
will repeat until the repeat count has been reached or the main GPI
associated with the EAS Alert is removed.
