3. The secondary node carries traffic only if the primary node is unable to carry
traffic.
From the operation instructions, identify and
record the cross-connections to be made at the
secondary node.

(CIT) to the local FT-2000 network element and
condition it.

NOTE:
The normal cross-connection at the secondary node is a 2-way
cross-connection, however, a 1-way cross-connection is used for
half-duplex transmission.
At the CIT, select
CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-Crossconnect
ion-STS3 (or STS1) and execute to obtain
an STS3 (or STS1) Cross-Connection Map
Report. Section 11 shows examples of reports.

7. Compare the report with the operation
instructions and record any cross-connections to
be added and/or deleted at the secondary node.

CAUTION:
The cross-connections to be deleted MUST NOT be carrying traffic;
otherwise, service interruptions will occur.
Delete any unnecessary cross-connections
associated with the tributary(ies) and/or the
slot(s) to be cross-connected. Use the
CONFIGURATION-Delete-Crossconnectio
n-STS3 (or STS1) command to delete a
cross-connection.
