Ring Reset
NOTE:
READ THIS ENTIRE PROCEDURE BEFORE BEGINNING THE RING RESET.
CONTACT YOUR NEXT LEVEL OF SUPPORT IF ANY PART OF THIS
PROCEDURE IS NOT CLEAR.
!
CAUTION:
Prior to resetting a network element in an operating ring, it is highly
recommended that the status of each FT-2000 Network Element be verified as
alarm free.
!
CAUTION:
Perform this procedure during a maintenance window. Notify the Alarm Center
of what you are about to do and ask them to notify you if they see any change in
adjoining equipment. This will aid you when you lose visibility during the reset.
NOTE:
Because a node reset essentially mines for hardware failures, human
intervention may be required at the site of a failure.
NOTE:
For Release 7.2 and earlier, this procedure is recommended to be performed at
the DSNE, subsequently referred to as the "Local Node". For TARP software
releases, any node can be used as the local node.
NOTE:
It is recommended that spare circuit packs be secured (and are available) with
respect to guidelines provided in the sparing section of the FT-2000 OC-48
Applications, Planning, and Ordering Guide (APOG).
NOTE:
It is recommended that a spare SYSMEM be loaded with the current operating
generic and, if possible, with current provisioning data.
NOTE:
A spare SYSCTL should be immediately available.
