Clear ‘APS Channel Failure’
Overview: An ‘APS channel failure’ cannot be cleared by itself. It is always
associated with one or more other failures at the local FT-2000 network element or at
a remote FT-2000 network element. This procedure provides instructions to identify
and clear the associated failure or failures.
1. Look for the associated failure or failures in the near end Active Alarm and Sta-
tus Report. The only possibilities are:
• Incoming protection line failure such as:
incoming OC-48 AIS
incoming OC-48 LOF
incoming OC-48 LOS
incoming OC-48 SF
incoming OC-48 SD.
• RCVR failure or RCVR removed
• TRMTR failure or TRMTR removed
• Controller failure or controller removed such as:
OHCTL failure
OHCTL removed
LNCTL failure
LNCTL removed.
2. Did you find only one, more than one, ornone of the associated failures
listed in Step 1 in the report?
If more than one, then continue with Step 3.
If only one, then continue with Step 5.
If none, then the trouble is not in the local FT-2000 network element but
may be the OC-48 optical line. Initiate a Trouble Report to the remote
FT-2000 network element.
