33. STOP! YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
34. From office records, determine the type of network element at the other end of
the OC-3/OC12 auto switched line.
35. Is the remote network element an FT-2000 add/drop-rings terminal?
If YES, then continue with Step 36.
If NO, then refer to the proper trouble clearing documentation for the type
of network element. For example, DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexer,
User/Service Manual, 363-206-202.
NOTE:
You will need to travel to the remote network element or ask for assistance to
continue with this procedure.
36. At the network element identified in Step 32, use a CIT to obtain an Active
Alarms and Status Report.
NOTE:
It is possible that an OC3/OC12 auto switch at near end and/or
OC3/OC12 auto switch at far end will also be observed at this network
element. If so, you MUST ignore the OC3/OC12 auto switch at near
end and/or OC3/OC12 auto switch at far end condition in the Active
Alarms and Status Report.
37. Referring to the report obtained in Step 36, are there any conditions other than
OC3/OC12 auto switch at near end and/or OC3/OC12 auto switch
at far end listed?
If YES, then continue with Step 38.
If NO, then continue with Step 41.
38. Referring to the report obtained in Step 36, identify the topmost condition other
than OC3/OC12 auto switch at near end and/or OC3/OC12 auto
switch at far end condition.
NOTE:
While following the instructions in the procedure(s) to which you will now be
sent, you MUST ignore the OC3/OC12 auto switch at near end and/or
OC3/OC12 auto switch at far end condition in the Active Alarms and
Status Report. For example, if you are asked whether there are any alarm or
status conditions listed and the only condition shown in the report is OC3/OC12
auto switch at near end and/or OC3/OC12 auto switch at far
end, the answer is NO.
