Perform Automatic Low Speed Cabling (Fiber) Test
Overview: This acceptance procedure is used to verify continuity of the low-speed
cabling (fiber) between the low-speed cross-connect bay or lightguide cross-connect
panel and an FT-2000 network element that was installed by someone else. The
particular low-speed cables (fibers) being tested must be out-of-service.
NOTE:
Generally, it is strongly recommended that all cables (fibers) be installed
(initially) and tested up front in both directions. This would be in lieu of the steps
defined within this DLP.
!
CAUTION:
Do not remove any circuit packs during testing because erroneous indications
can result.
NOTE:
The circuit being tested may be used for 1-way drop or 1-way add services, in
which case there may be an output cable and not an input cable or an input
cable and not an output cable.
1. Is the circuit to be tested a 1-way only?
If YES, then continue with Step 2.
If NO, then continue with Step 3.
2. To test a 1-way only circuit, a temporary cable can be installed to provide a
return path during the loopback test. After the temporary cable has been
installed (see reference), continue with Step 3 as if a 2-way cable.
