3.
NOTE:
If LAA4 EC-1 circuit packs are equipped for this test, a SONET test set must
be used as the source signal. Replace the circuit pack output signal with the
signal from the SONET test set. The LAA4 circuit pack will not transition to
the ‘In-Service’ state in the presence of an AIS signal.
Is this test part of the initial acceptance (Acceptance: NTP-002 or NTP-006)
or part of the protection access upgrade (Acceptance: NTP-004), or part of an
added electrical low-speed cable acceptance (Acceptance: NTP-008), or part
of an added optical low-speed fibers acceptance (Acceptance: NTP-010)?
If initial acceptance of network element, then continue with Step 4.
If an upgrade to add protection access, then continue with Step 14.
If acceptance of new and added electrical low-speed cables, then con-
tinue with Step 21.
If acceptance of new and added optical low-speed fibers, then continue
withStep28.
Initial Acceptance
4. Temporarily remove any high-speed optical loopbacks on all lines.
Reference: DLP-518
!
CAUTION:
FT-2000 low-speed outputs toward the cross-connect panel or other
transmission equipment must be properly terminated. If unterminated, false
indications of failures may result.
5. At the low-speed cross-connect bay (that is, DSX-3, STSX-1, LGX, DACS
III-2000, etc.), loop back each low-speed circuit to be tested. Do not use the
FAULT-Operate-Loopback command at the FT-2000 network element.
6. At the CIT, select FAULT-Retrieve-Alarm to obtain Active Alarms and Sta-
tus Report.
7. Referring to the report just obtained, make a note of any conditions other than
those listed below that appear in the report. (Your report may not include all of
the conditions listed.) If acceptance testing, report these conditions to installa-
tion personnel if any failures occur during the following test. If circuit order test-
ing, refer to TAP-102 to clear the trouble condition.
