7. Are the transmit and receive lightguide cables connected to the OUT connec-
tor of the TRMTR circuit pack and to the IN connector on the RCVR circuit
pack, respectively for line 1W?
If YES, then continue with Step 21.
If NO, then continue with Step 8.
8. Locate the transmit fiber for line 1W.
9. Remove the protector cap (if equipped) from the end of the transmit fiber.
10. Clean the transmit optical fiber and the 0-dB buildout with canned air or non-
toxic gas and install the buildout in the OUT connector of the TRMTR circuit
pack.

11. Connect the transmit fiber to the 0-dB buildout (installed in the OUT connector
on the TRMTR circuit pack).
12. Has the received dB value of the lightguide buildout already been determined?
If YES, then continue with Step 15.
If NO, then continue with Step 13.
NOTE:
Assistance at the remote end of the OC-48 line may be required.
13. Measure the power level on the receive fiber using an optical level meter
and/or an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) or equivalents per local
procedures.
