Replace Fan Filter (in E-Bay)
Overview: This procedure disconnects the DC power to the fan assembly before
the air filter is replaced to prevent dust contamination to the FT-2000 network
element. This procedure should be completed without any interruptions.
!
CAUTION:
Use a static ground wrist strap whenever handling circuit packs or working on an
FT-2000 terminal to prevent electrostatic discharge damage to sensitive
components. See "Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Considerations" in Trouble
Clearing: TAD-100.
1. Locate the Power Distribution and Fuse Panel at the top of the bay.
2. Remove the front cover of the panel by using a 7mm or adjustable wrench to
loosen (about three turns) the two hex-head screws (one located on each side
of the cover). If the cover is secured with slotted pan-head screws, these must
be removed completely by using a slotted screwdriver (straight shaft or offset).
3. Locate the two FAN power connectors/plugs, labeled FAN, −48A and
FAN, −48B at the upper left of the connectorized panel.
!
CAUTION:
Do not pull on the power cables to remove the plugs from the connectors.
4. Remove the two FAN power plugs from the connectors (squeeze on the sides
of the plug and pull it straight out from the connector).
Response: The POWER ON LED at the fan assembly is off.
5. Obtain a replacement (disposable) air filter.
NOTE:
Filters may be ordered as sub List 200 from either the FT-2000
J68974AK-1 or J68974EK-1 (circuit packs, miscellaneous hardware, and
spare parts shipped separately from the equipment) drawing.
6. About 32 inches from the floor, locate two 1/4-turn fasteners on the PC tray
screen. See Figure 1.
7. Use a slotted screwdriver (or a dime) to rotate the 1/4-turn fasteners
counterclockwise 90 degrees.
8. Put a finger in each wire loop and pull to open the screen.
