Purpose of Enhanced High-Speed Shelf 3
The Enhanced High-Speed Shelf* serves as an interface for OC-48 high-speed
lines 1W and 1E.

The Enhanced High-Speed Shelf (Figure 3-13) consists of the
fully connectorized interconnection panel, a filter panel, and 12 circuit pack slots.
It measures 21.5 inches high by 21.5 inches wide by 12 inches deep and fits in a
standard 23-inch wide network bay framework.

The Enhanced High-Speed Shelf (Figure 3-14) provides the following circuit pack
slots:
■ TRMTR 1W: One slot is provided for the 739B2, 739C2, 739E[1-16],
739H[1-66], 739J2, 739J3, 739R2, 739S2 739B4, 739J4, 739B5, 739C5,
739J5, 739P5, 739R5, or 739S5 OC48 Transmitter, Add/Drop (OC48
TRMTR [A/D]) circuit pack for OC-48 high-speed line 1W. The 739J3 OC48
TRMTR (A/D) circuit pack is compatible with Release 5.0.1-ADR or later
software. The 739R2 and 739S2 OC48 TRMTR (A/D) circuit packs are
compatible with Release 6.0.0-ADR or later software. The 739B4, 739J4,
739B5, 739C5, 739J5, 739P5, 739R5, and 739S5 OC48 TRMTR (A/D)
circuit packs are compatible with Release 7.0.0-ADR or later software. The
739E[1-16] circuit packs are compatible with Release 7.2.0-ADR and later
software.
■ RCVR 1W: One slot is provided for the 839B2, 839B4B, 839B5, or 839E5
OC48 Receiver, Add/Drop (OC48 RCVR [A/D]) circuit packs for OC-48
high-speed line 1W. The 839B4B and 839B5 OC48 RCVR (A/D) circuit
packs are compatible with Release 7.0.0-ADR or later software. The 839E5
circuit packs are compatible with Release 7.2.0 and later software.
■ TRMTR 1E: One slot is provided for the 739B2, 739C2, 739E[1-16],
739H[1-16], 739J2, 739J3, 739R2, 739S2, 739B4, 739J4, 739B5, 739C5,
739J5, 739P5, 739R5, or 739S5 OC48 Transmitter, Add/Drop (OC48
TRMTR [A/D]) circuit pack for OC-48 high-speed line 1E. The 739J3 OC48
TRMTR (A/D) circuit pack is compatible with Release 5.0.1-ADR or later
software. The 739R2 and 739S2 OC48 TRMTR (A/D) circuit packs are
compatible with Release 6.0.0-ADR or later software. The 739B4, 739J4,
739B5, 739C5, 739J5, 739P5, 739R5, and 739S5 OC48 TRMTR (A/D)
circuit packs are compatible with Release 7.0.0-ADR or later software. The
739E[1-16] circuit packs are compatible with Release 7.2.0 and later
software.
* The Enhanced High-Speed Shelf is used only on FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal
for two-Fiber Rings equipped with the J68974E FT-2000 OC-48 Enhanced Lightwave
Terminating Bay.
