Enter/Delete DCC Assignment on OC-3/OC-12 Line
Overview: This procedure is used to enter, delete, or change the assignment of one
of eight Data Communications Channels (DCC) to a particular LS INTFC slot or pair
of slots. Also at this time, the orientation of the DCC may be provisioned to "User" or
"Network".
1. Do you want to enter, delete, or change a DCC assignment?
To enter new DCC assignment, then continue with Step 2.
To delete DCC assignment, then continue with Step 7.
To change an existing DCC assignment/orientation, then continue with
Step 11.
Enter DCC Assignment
2. Determine from office records the DCC assignment (1-8) and the orientation
(network/user).
NOTE:
If you are using Release 6.0 or later software, a DCC assignment should
not be made to an LS INTFC slot that does not already contain a good OC3
circuit pack.
3. At the CIT, select CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-Equipment command to
verify the slot contains an OC3/OC-12 circuit pack.
NOTE:
The orientation of the OC-3/OC-12 circuit pack is provisioned "network" at
one end and "user" at the other end. Both ends of the OC-3/OC-12 line
cannot be the same, and it makes no difference which end is "network."
4. At the CIT, select CONFIGURATION-Enter-Assignment-DCC to make the
DCC assignment and set the orientation.
NOTE:
If you are establishing DCC connectivity for the first time, you may have
additional alarms, for example, multiple DSNEs defined and/or remote
alarms. All alarms should clear after the DCC stabilizes, but if they do not,
refer to the trouble clearing tab of this manual.
