The following functions are provided using the CIT:
n Reports
n Loopbacks and testing
n Protection switching
n Initializing performance-monitoring storage registers
n Cross-connections
n Provisioning.
The FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System also provides a security function to
protect against unauthorized access to the CIT system functions (for example,
provisioning). Logins, passwords, functional capabilities, authorization levels, and
access to the system capabilities are provided. For more information about
security, refer to Volume I, Section 8, "Administration and Provisioning."
The CIT may be one of the following:
n A personal computer (PC) loaded with the FT-2000 CIT-PC software
n A PC loaded with the CPro-2000 Graphical User Interface and Provisioning
Tool (Release 5 and later)
n An American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) based
(dumb) terminal (Release 5 and later).
In Release 5 and later releases, the FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal
may be provisioned to accept a PC loaded with the CPro-2000 software or an
ASCII-based (dumb) terminal as the CIT using the SECURITY-Set-
Security-Port input or ENT-CID-SECU TL1 command in R7.2. For more
information about provisioning and the SECURITY-Set-Security-Port input,
refer to Volume I, Section 8, "Administration and Provisioning."
PC with FT-2000 CIT-PC Software 6
A PC loaded with FT-2000 CIT-PC software communicates with the FT-2000
OC-48 Lightwave System using the F-interface protocol. A PC loaded with
FT-2000 CIT-PC software has a graphical user interface that uses pull-down
menus. Extensive on-line help is also provided. A PC loaded with FT-2000
CIT-PC software must be used to install software in an FT-2000 OC-48
Add/Drop-Rings Terminal.
