Administration and Provisioning
8-68 Issue 8.0 July 2002
The following rules should be observed when specifying the source node TID,
secondary node TID, and destination node TID parameters.
■ The value of the source node TID parameter (1-way cross-connections)
and the value of the secondary node TID parameter (1-way-DRI
cross-connections) must be the
same
at all nodes. The value must be the
TID of a node where there is a 1-way-DRI cross-connection.
■ The value of the destination node TID parameter depends on exactly what
cross-connections are present. To determine the value of the destination
node TID at the local node, assign the following:
— X is the TID of the local node.
— Y is the TID of the next downstream node with a 1-way-DRI
cross-connection. X and Y will never be the same node.
— Z is the TID of the last node with a 1-way drop cross-connection
when following the circuit from node X to node Y. Z can be node X or
Y, some other node between X and Y, or null if there are no 1-way
drop cross-connections between X and Y.
If Z is X or null, use the TID of node Y as the value of the destination node
TID parameter. Otherwise, use the TID of node Z as the value of the
destination node TID parameter.
The following cross-connections are required to establish the circuit shown in
Figure 8-21:
■ At node 0, a 1-way drop cross-connection is entered by specifying:
— Source (tributary)
— Source line (line 1W)
— Source STS-3 tributary (tributary 6)
— Source node TID
*
(node 0 TID)
— Destination (slot)
— Destination low-speed interface slot (slot 4A).
■ A 1-way-DRI cross-connection is entered by specifying:
— Source low-speed interface slot (slot 4B)
— Destination line (line 1E)
— Destination STS-3 tributary (tributary 6)
— Destination node TID* (node 2 TID)
— Secondary node TID* (node 0 TID).
* In Release 4.1 and later releases, entering a question mark (?) in response to the TID
prompt will display a point-and-shoot list of available addresses in the OC-48 ring. Enter
the Retrieve-Map-Ring command to update the point-and-shoot list.
