The FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminal may enter the following states
when reacting to single and double failures (Figure 9-9):
■ Normal Operation State: In this state there are no failures that affect
2-fiber ring protection switching. The FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings
Terminal remains in this state the overwhelming majority of time. The
following types of failures cause transitions:
— Span failures are cable cuts and transmission electronics failures
(for example, transmitter or receiver circuit pack failures)
