Maintenance Description
9-58 Issue 8.0 July 2002
The DRI Auto Switch or DRI Manual Switch condition indicates a DRI
switch is active. These conditions are shown in the reports generated by the
FAULT-Retrieve-Alarm (and Status) and FAULT-Retrieve-Network
Alarms inputs. Table 9-9 provides a summary of the DRI feature capabilities.
Figure 9-18 shows a dual ring interworking application with two rings and a 2-way
DRI circuit. One ring is a line-switched ring equipped with the FT-2000 OC-48
Add/Drop-Rings Terminals. The other ring could be another line-switched ring
equipped with FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings Terminals or a path-switched ring
equipped with DDM-2000 OC-3 Multiplexers (Release 7.0) or DDM-2000 OC-12
Multiplexers (Release 3.0).
The 2-way DRI circuit is routed to/from the termination node (node 5) in the
FT-2000 line-switched ring through the primary node (node 4) and secondary
node (node 3) to the other ring. (The primary and secondary nodes are not
required to be adjacent nodes.)

* Generates an alarm (or near end activity) to the local CIT and corresponding TL1 autonomous messages
(alarm or event) are sent to the OS.
+ In the event an AIS-P signal is detected on an STS-1 that is not DRI protected——no CIT reports and
TL1 autonomous messages will NOT be generated.
