IV. MOUNT THE FRINGE PLATES TO THE LOWER SPINDLE
ASSEMBLIES AND ADJUST
Tools Required
• Strasbaugh fringe plate tool kit, shipped with the machine (contents: one fringe plate tool, 16
spring washers, eight 1/4-20 screws, two probe fixtures, two 1/4-20 bolt and nut pairs, four
1/4-20 x 3 in. s.s. set screws)
• 3/16-in. hex key
• 5/32-in. hex key
MOUNT THE FRINGE PLATES TO THE LOWER SPINDLE ASSEMBLIES
Lower Left Spindle
1. Stack eight of the spring washers, included in the Strasbaugh fringe plate kit, in
four pairs, with each pair stacked in series, producing maximum height as
shown in the sketch in
Figure 11-3, below.

2. Hand thread one 1/4-20 x 3 set screw into each of four work chuck mounting
holes of the lower left spindle assembly.
3. Place one stacked spring washer pair on each of the 1/4-20 x 3 set screws.
