4. Rotate the grind wheel while observing the right probe reading on the Home
Machine menu screen:
a. Gently grasp the grind wheel to prevent it from rotating.
DO NOT press down on the grind wheel; apply gentle side force to
restrain it.
b. While gently holding the fringe plate stationary with one hand, manually
rotate the upper right spindle grind wheel.
c. Record the probe readings displayed at Points A, B, and C as shown in
Figure 11-4.
Point A ___ Point B ___ Point C ___
GOAL: The readings at Points A, B, and C should be within +/- 2
microns of equal.
Note:
Further adjustments are rarely required at this phase of the procedure.
However, should additional alignment be required, go on to Step 4.d.,
immediately below.
d. If the goal is not met, repeat the following adjustments:
• Adjust the Upper Spindle Assemblies to Positions Parallel with the
Lower Right Spindle (above).
• Adjust the Lower Left Spindle Assembly to a Position Parallel with the
Upper Spindle Assemblies (above in this section).

If the goal is still not met when the lower left spindle assembly is tested
against the upper right spindle, contact Strasbaugh for assistance.
