2. Check the tension of the Z travel belt:
a. Press the belt at midspan with your finger.
GOAL: The belt should deflect 1/8 in. at center of belt span with
2 LBS. pressure.
Note: For a rough gauge of the feel of the pounds of force needed,
press a scale with your finger until it registers the poundage you
need to apply.
b. If the tension meets the goal, skip to Fine (Right) Spindle, below.
c. If the tension needs adjustment, go to the Adjustment Procedure section,
below, to make corrections.
C. ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
1. Using a 916-in. open end wrench, loosen the two 3/8-16 hex head bolts
retaining the motor mount bracket at the top of the spindle by rotating them
counterclockwise.
2. Slide the motor mount bracket as needed to meet the goal.
3. When the goal has been met, retighten both of the hex head bolts to firm by
rotating them clockwise.
4. Recheck the adjustment by repeating Step 2., above in Section B.
a. If the tension meets the goal, go on to Fine (Right ) Spindle, below.
b. If the tension needs adjustment, repeat the adjustment procedure.
D. WHEN SATISFACTORY ADJUSTMENT IS ACHIEVED
1. Replace door 19.
FINE (RIGHT) SPINDLE
Repeat as for Coarse Spindle.
