7AF Version 5.01 Features
6/15/99 Steve Jacobson
Purpose
Software version 5.01 treats the situation where a customer grinds wafers having very different
characteristics so that a single set of robot station coordinates cannot be used for the different wafer types.
New coordinates must be downloaded to the robot controller when changing wafer type. Version 5.01
makes that automatic. In addition, there is an ease-of-use improvement involving Select Chuck(s). If your
7AF uses only one set of robot coordinates (as most 7AF’s do) and if you do not normally change your
chuck selection, you do not need to install this upgrade.
Downloading Robot Coordinates
Robot coordinates are saved in one or more files named C:\EQUIPE\*.COR as duplicates of the values saved
into the Equipe robot controller. If you wish to switch between two or more of these during 7AF operation,
copy the ones you will use into the C:\7AF\EXECODE directory.
In the future, when you modify any of these in C:\EQUIPE you must also copy it to C:\7AF\EXECODE if
you want to make use of this automatic download feature.
With files named *.COR in the EXECODE directory, a new button on the Edit Recipes menu will become
active. This button, called Robot Co-ords, brings up a box that lists the *.COR files in EXECODE. When
you select one from the list, its name is saved into the currently chosen recipe, and also displays at the top of
the screen, next to Align Mode. It will also display next to Align Mode on the Grind Cycle screen.
When you start a grind cycle, software will see whether the current recipe contains a robot coordinate file
name. If so, that name will be compared with the name of the most recently downloaded coordinate file. If
they do not match, downloading will take place immediately, before the grind begins. A message box will
warn you not to interrupt the download. The buttons at the bottom of the screen will all be disabled to
insure that the download is not interrupted.
If the names match, or if the current recipe does not store a coordinate file name, no downloading takes
place.
Referencing the 7AF can also perform an automatic download, based on the name of the robot coordinate
file saved in the DEFAULTO recipe. The first reference after starting the software will always perform a
download if you use this feature. Subsequent references check the name of the previous download, so they
may or may not perform their own download.
If your 7AF does not make use of this feature, so there are no robot coordinate files in the EXECODE
directory, the Robot Co-ords button will always appear dimmed and cannot be pressed. No filenames will be
saved into recipes, and no downloading will occur.
Selecting Chucks
In version 5.00 the required Home and Reference that followed changing machine variables was relaxed so
that only some variables forced a Home and Reference. In version 5.01 selecting chucks is also relaxed. If
BOTH chucks have been referenced, making a chuck selection in Machine Maintenance will not force a
Home and Reference. Of course, some actions, such as dressing a wheel, force a new reference. Be sure to
reference BOTH chucks after dressing a wheel in order to retain the ability to select chucks without Home
and Reference.
