9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine Operation
5.
Sound the horn and turn the key to the
START position.
Sound the horn before starting the engine
to clear people away from the combine.
To avoid the possibility of personal injury
or death, start the engine ONLY from the
operator seat. Do NOT start the engine by
shorting across the starter terminals. The
machine will start in gear if bypassed.
Do NOT use ether or starting fluids to start
the engine with glow plugs. Ether is highly
flammable and could ignite on engines
with glow plugs. Engine damage could
result.
IMPORTANT! To prevent starter damage,
do NOT operate starter for more than 30
seconds at a time. If the engine does not
start, wait at least two minutes before
trying again.
NOTE! When the key switch is turned to
START, a delay of a couple of seconds will
occur. This allows the controllers to power
up, relays to close, and the starter solenoid
to energize.
If you attempt to start the engine before
the preheat cycle is complete, the glow
plugs will be deactivated.
NOTE! The key positions are as follows:
First position – off
Second position – accessories
Third position – run
Fourth position – start
