Operation 9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine
Starting the Engine
If the fuel temperature is below 0° (32°F), it is
necessary to allow the glow plugs to heat
before starting the engine. (see page 175
).
The time will vary depending on the fuel
temperature (colder temperatures require the
glow plugs to heat longer).
While the glow plugs are heating, the
CommandCenter displays “Engine Preheat
Timer” (A) to indicate the glow plugs are ON
and counts down to when the engine can be
started (B) (see
drawing). Once activated,
plugs remain ON for a minimum period of five
seconds and maximum of 30 seconds,
depending on the temperature. Glow plugs
stay on an additional five seconds after the
timer goes to ze
ro and then stays on for 10
more seconds (depending on the fuel
temperature) after the engine starts.
6. Turn the key to the START position.
7. Release the key after the engine starts and
let the engine run at low idle for five
minutes to warm the oil.
NOTE! If the Stop Engine Code appears
in the CommandCenter display, Diagnostic
Trouble Codes (DTC) also display. These
codes stop normal functions, and indicate
there is a problem that requires the
machine be stopped and the problem
corrected immediately. Co
des are
displayed until the problem is resolved. If
the problem cannot be resolved, see your
dealer.
