9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine Safety
Stay Clear of Header
Many moving parts (such as the auger)
cannot be shielded due to function.
Stay clear of all moving elements during
operation.
Always disengage the header drive,
shut off the engine and remove the key
before servicing or unclogging the
header.
Park and Leave the Combine
Safely
Lower the header unit to the ground.
Before leaving the machine, disengage
the harvesting unit and separator. Shut
the engine off and move the
multifunction control handle to the
neutral position. Apply the parking
brake, remove the key and lock the
operator’s cab.
Never leave the machine unattended as
long as the engine is running.
Never leave the operator’s cab when
driving.
Transport Combine Safely
Whenever possible, avoid transporting
on public roadways with the header
attached.
If the combine must be transported with
the header attached, make sure that the
flashing warning lights on the header
are operating and the reflective material
is clean and visible.
The use of a spotter or pilot vehicle is
recommended on busy, narrow or hilly
roads and when crossing bridges.
Drive at a speed that is safe for
conditions.
Secure the radio antenna and bin lip
extension in transport position before
driving on public roads.
If equipped with unload-on-the-go,
make sure the conveyor is completely
pulled in and secured before driving on
public roads.
AVOID electrical lines, particularly low-
hanging electrical cables.
Use the instructional seat for instruction
or short periods of machine observation
only. Do NOT allow children to ride in
the combine.
