Safety 9980 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine
Prevent Machine Runaway or
Unexpected Movement
• Avoid injury or death from unexpected
movement of machine or components.
• Do NOT start the engine by shorting
across the starter or solenoid terminals.
The machine or components may move
if the normal circuitry is bypassed.
Remove Blockages Safely
• On OCS equipped combines, avoid
serious injury or death from
entanglement in peanut bin cross
augers.
• For functional purposes, the cross
augers cannot be completely covered.
• NEVER enter the peanut bin in either
dump bin or OSC combines when the
engine is running.
• Before entering the bin, ALWAYS:
o Shut the engine OFF.
o Set the parking brake.
o Remove the key from ignition.
PREVENT BATTERY EXPLOSIONS
• Keep sparks, lighted matches, and open
flame away from the top of the battery.
Battery gas can explode.
• NEVER check battery charge by placing
a metal object across the posts. Use a
volt-meter or hydrometer.
• Do NOT charge a frozen battery; it may
explode. Always warm the battery to
16°C (60°F) before charging.
Service Cooling System Safely
Explosive release of fluids from pressured
cooling system can cause serious burns.
Before servicing the cooling system:
• Shut off the engine, set the parking brake
and remove the key.
• Allow the system to cool before opening
the cap.
• Slowly loosen the cap to relieve pressure
before removing completely.
