Troubleshooting PPP Authentication
If you are troubleshooting a PPP connection and you notice that the LCP state
is continually going up and down, it is possible that one or both of the peers
cannot authenticate themselves. You can view debug authentication messages
to determine whether the local or the remote router has failed to authenticate
itself. When troubleshooting PAP, you can also view the usernames and
passwords the routers are sending.
To monitor the PPP authentication process, enter the following command
from the enable mode context:
ProCurve# debug ppp authentication
Troubleshooting PAP. If you are using PAP authentication, look for mes-
sages such as those shown in Figure 6-24.
