Using the Web Browser Interface for Basic Configuration Tasks
Configuring Access to the Web Browser Interface
Configuring Access to the Web Browser
Interface
You can use the Web browser interface to configure interfaces on your router.
To access the Web browser interface, you must first use the command line
interface (CLI) to enable the HTTP server on the ProCurve Secure Router and
to configure a username and password for HTTP access.
You must also configure at least one interface on the ProCurve Secure Router
and establish a connection through which you can send HTTP traffic. For
example, if you want to access the router from a workstation on your WAN,
you must configure the Ethernet interface and establish a connection between
it and your LAN. (For information about setting up an Ethernet interface, see
Chapter 3: Configuring Ethernet Interfaces.)
Enabling Access to the Web Browser Interface
From the global configuration mode context, enter:
ProCurve(config)# ip http server
If you want to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to protect the communication
between your workstation and the router, enter:
ProCurve(config)# ip http secure-server
In either case, you must then configure a username and password, which will
also be used for HTTP, Secure Shell (SSH), and FTP access. From the global
configuration mode context, enter:
Syntax: username <username> password <password>
Both the username and password can be an alphanumeric string up to 30
characters in length. In addition, both are case-sensitive.
After configuring the ProCurve Secure Router for HTTP access, open an
Internet browser and enter the IP address assigned to the router interface
through which you want to establish an HTTP session. For example, if you
want to access the router from your LAN and the IP address of the Ethernet
0/1 interface is 192.168.1.1, you would enter: http://192.168.1.1.You will be
prompted to enter the username and password that you configured for HTTP
access.
