Appendix B: Glossary
WAN/LAN connector
RJ-48C Registered Jack 48C. A miniature 8-position keyed jack/connector used with
cable having four twisted-pairs. The connector itself is slightly smaller than
the RJ-45 and is often used for T1 or E1 connections.
T1 Carrier-line connector
RMON Remote MONitoring. A standard that allows administrators to monitor and
manage network equipment remotely. RMON enables various network moni-
tors and console systems to exchange network monitoring data using SNMP
and MIBs.
