Add OC-12 Low Speed Slot(s)
DOITEMSBELOWINORDERLISTED........ FORDETAILS,GOTO
1. Overview: This procedure is used to add a low-speed OC-12 slot to a
network element and not to make cross-connections. Refer to DLP-536 for
cross-connect information for an FT-2000 OC-48 Add/Drop-Rings
Terminal.
Required Test Equipment:
Craft Interface Terminal (CIT)
Wrist Strap
Appropriate Optical Lightguide buildouts (LBO)
!
WARNING:
Unterminated optical connectors may emit invisible laser radiation.
Eye damage may occur if the beam is viewed directly or with improper
optical instruments. Avoid direct exposure to beam.
!
CAUTION:
Use a static ground wrist strap whenever handling circuit packs or
working on an FT-2000 terminal to prevent electrostatic discharge
damage to sensitive components. See "Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
Considerations" in Trouble Clearing: TAD-100.
NOTE:
Unlike for other circuit packs, the low speed shelf is not keyed to
prevent the OC-12 from being accidentally installed into the wrong
slots. Each OC-12 occupies four consecutive slots and must only be
installed into slot locations (1A-1B-2A-2B, 3A-3B-4A-4B,
5A-5B-6A-6B, or 7A-7B-8A-8B).
