Change an OC-3/IS-3 Link From 0x1 to 1+1
Protection Mode
DOITEMSBELOWINORDERLISTED........ FORDETAILS,GOTO
1. Overview: This procedure enables you to change a Low Speed optical link
from 0x1 protection mode to 1+1 protection mode without causing a service
impairment.
Required Test Equipment:
• Craft Interface Terminal (CIT)
• Wrist Strap
• Appropriate Optical Lightguide buildouts (LBO)
!
WARNING:
Unterminated optical connectors may emit invisible laser radiation. Eye
damage may occur if the beam is viewed directly or with improper optical
instruments. Avoid direct exposure to beam.
!
CAUTION:
Use a static ground wrist strap whenever handling circuit packs or
working on an FT-2000 terminal to prevent electrostatic discharge
damage to sensitive components. See "Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
Considerations" in Trouble Clearing: TAD-100.
Obtain the Circuit Order work instructions and
identify the slot that is specified for use as the
“Protection Link”.
NOTE:
The “Service slot” has an _a (e.g., 1a, 2a, 3a, etc) slot address. While,
the “Protection slot” has an _b (e.g., 1b, 2b, 3b, etc) slot address.
NOTE:
This procedure assumes that the Service slot is already equipped with
an OC-3/IS-3 circuit pack.
