Provision Through Cross-Connections

WARNING:
All traffic that is presently routed directly between the nodes adjacent to
where the rings will be opened requires new through cross-connections
provisioned in the nodes of the other ring. This must be done prior to
merging the rings. Otherwise, service will be dropped when the merge is
completed.
NOTE:
In order to establish the through cross connections it may be necessary to
roll some of the existing cross connections in either or both rings.
At the CIT connected to ring-1, select the
CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-Crossconnect-STS...
..... command to obtain the cross-connect map report.
Refer to Figure 2.
10. From the ring-1 cross-connect map report, identify all
traffic that must have a "through" cross-connection
defined for one or more NEs of ring-2. At the CIT
connected to ring-2, select the CONFIGURATION-
Enter-Crossconnection-STS........... command, at
each NE as appropriate, to define the "through"
cross-connections. Refer to Figure 2.
NOTE:
This will cause non-service affecting system
alarms until the procedure is completed.
11. At the CIT connected to ring-2 select the
CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-Crossconnect-STS1
command to obtain the cross-connect map report.
