12. From the ring-2 cross-connect map report, identify all
traffic that must have a "through" cross-connection
defined for one or more NEs of ring-1. At the CIT
connected to ring-1, select the CONFIGURATION-
Enter-Crossconnection-STS........... command, at
each NE as appropriate, to define the "through"
cross-connections. Refer to Figure 2.
NOTE:
This will cause non-service affecting system
alarms until the procedure is completed.
Change one of the DS-NE=YES to NO
13.
!
WARNING:
A single ring can have only one DS-NE. Therefore, prior to merging ring-1
with ring-2 it will be necessary to change one of the existing DS-NE=YES
nodes to NO. Failure to do this could result in a service interruption.
From the CIT, access the NE to be changed and select
the SECURITY-Set-Network_Element command
and change DS-NE = YES to DS-NE =NO. Refer to the
example provided in Figure 3.
NOTE:
At the node where the DS-NE is changed, the OHCTL (and the TOHCTL
pack if used) will reboot. This reboot will cause DCC failures within this ring.
NOTE:
Also, after the reboot takes place, all nodes within that ring will have system
alarms such as: DS-NE not reachable, NE Stat Comm Failure, Circuit audit
suspended, etc. And, a remote login cannot be performed at the rebooted
node.
