TAP-172
Clear ‘NE Status Comm Failure’
Overview: This condition could arise from situations such as one or more nodes are
not reachable because of a DCC failure (condition will timeout after 4 hours if a node
was intentionally removed from the subnetwork). Remember, that for this procedure,
a network element (NE) and a node are interchangeable
1.
NOTE:
This procedure assumes that you are logged into the NE with the NE
status comm failure condition.
NOTE:
This condition is complicated because it may be caused by other trouble
conditions, therefore, these other conditions must be cleared first. If you
have previously obtained any reports, one or all may currently be
inaccurate (not up to date).
At the CIT, select FAULT-Retrieve-Alarms command and execute to
obtain an Active Alarms and Status Report.
2. Is the NE status comm failure condition still shown?
If NO, then STOP! YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
If YES, then continue with Step 3.
3. At the CIT, select CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-Map-Network command
and execute to obtain a Network Map Report.
4. Is an inc. (OC3) DCC failure or inc. (OC12) DCC failure condi-
tion shown on the report?
If NO, then continue with Step 7.
If YES, then clear this condition first (refer to TAP-169) and return to this
procedure.
5. Wait 5 minutes after clearing the condition.
