13. At the CIT, select FAULT-Switch-Synchronization-Hardware
command for the circuit pack being removed and execute a manual switch.
Use the FAULT-Retrieve-State:TG command to verify, if desired.
14. Remove the circuit pack from the shelf as follows:
1. Push up on the bottom and down on the top metal locking clips to
unlock the circuit pack latches.
2. Unseat the circuit pack by carefully and continuously pulling out
equally on the top and bottom latches.
3. Carefully slide the circuit pack out of the slot guides to remove it
from the shelf. DO NOT ROCK THE CIRCUIT PACK BACK AND
FORTH.
15. Are you to install another circuit pack in this slot?
If YES, then continue with Step 18.
If NO, then continue with Step 16.
16. At the CIT, select CONFIGURATION-Update command to update the
hardware configuration. STOP! YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS
PROCEDURE.
17. If required, remove the apparatus (circuit pack) blank from the slot.

18. Obtain a known good replacement circuit pack with the same or higher series
number.
19. Install the circuit pack as follows:
1. If necessary, close both latches on the circuit pack.
2. Place the circuit pack into the slot guides and slowly slide it into the
shelf until the latches touch the shelf. DO NOT ROCK THE CIR-
CUIT PACK BACK AND FORTH.
3. Open the latches and push the circuit pack until it engages the con-
nector pins.
4. With a thumb on each latch, continue sliding the circuit pack with
one firm, continuous motion until the latches are fully engaged (the
metal clips are in the locked position).
20. Is the circuit pack just installed an OC-3, IS-3, OC-12, RCVR, TRMTR, or
REGENR?
If YES, then continue with Step 21.
