14. If an OC3 circuit pack is to be replaced with an IS3 circuit pack or an IS3 circuit
pack is to be replaced with an OC3 circuit pack, go to Step 16.
If an OC3 or OC12 circuit pack is provisioned as 1+1 protected and is to be
replaced by a DS3 or STS1E circuit pack, go to Step 15.
15. If the circuit pack to be replaced is a 1+1 protected OC3, use NTP-016 to
change the OC-3/IS-3 protection mode from 1+1 to 0x1. After completing
NTP-016, return to DLP-527 Step 16.
If the circuit pack to be replaced is a 1+1 protected OC12, use NTP-017 to
change the protection mode from 1+1 to 0x1. After completing NTP-017,
return to DLP-527 Step 16.

to 0x1 Protection Mode”

0x1 Protection Mode”

16. Disconnect the optical fibers from the existing optical circuit pack and subse-
quently remove the circuit pack from the slot.
17. Execute the CONFIGURATION-Update command.
18. Install the replacement low-speed circuit pack. Provision the slot as required
for the application and then, as appropriate, connect any optical fibers.
19. Execute the CONFIGURATION-Update command.
20. Is there a need to replace another low-speed optical circuit pack?
If YES, then continue with Step 11.
If NO, then go to Step 35.
High-Speed Optical
21. Before removing the optical fibers or removing the circuit packs, determine if
you want the automatic protection switch to make the switch or if you want to
make a manual switch.
Ifautoswitch,gotoStep25.
If manual switch then continue with Step 22.
