3. At the CIT (local network element), select CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-
Squelch Map-STS1 and enter to obtain an STS-1 Squelch Map Report. An
example of an STS-1 Squelch Map Report with a description of the output
parameters is provided in Section 11 of this manual.
4. At the CIT (local network element), select CONFIGURATION-Enter-Squelch
Map-STS1 and enter to provision the source node TID and the destination
node TID of the STS-1 squelch map.
NOTE:
Three STS-1 signals are included in an STS-3 signal. Therefore, both
cross-connections (STS1 and STS3) are necessary.
5. For DS3 port only. At the CIT (local network element), select
CONFIGURATION-Set-T3 and enter to provision the VMR mode parameter
for DS3s being added, dropped, and through cabled.
6. At the low-speed electrical cross-connect panel (DSX-3 and/or STSX-1) and
using the appropriate cables, plug in a cable for each STS-1 port (DS3 or
EC1).
NOTE:
Use Figure 1 as a guide to understand the STS-1 cross-connections using
external loopback cables. Port 1 must correspond to port 1, port 2 to port 2,
and port 3 to port 3.
NOTE:
The STS1 cross-connections cannot be rearranged in a through STS3
cross-connection. The same time slot assignment must be maintained on
both sides of the FT-2000 add/drop-rings terminal.
7. At the CIT (local network element), select CONFIGURATION-Retrieve-
Squelch Map-STS1 and enter to obtain an STS-1 Squelch Map Report.
