13. Use a ratchet with a 3/8” deep socket or some other tool that can fit over the
connector to unscrew the nut that holds each capacitor in place.

CAUTION:
DO NOT ALLOW the nuts or washers to fall into the bay.
NOTE:
The nut that secures the capacitor has slots on it that allow it to slide over
the spade wings on the capacitor lead.
14. Guide the nuts and lock washers off of the connectors.
15. Go to the front of the shelf and locate the loosened capacitors.
16. Pull the capacitors out to where you can work with the remaining leads. You
may need to pull the leads through a cable tie in order to give yourself enough
slack.

CAUTION:
To remove a lead, grip it by the neck of the lead’s short plastic sleeve and
not by the lead itself.
17. Remove the remaining leads from the capacitors. You may want to grip the
sleeves with pliers.
18. Attach the leads to the new capacitors, if possible. If not, attach them after
mounting the capacitors to the backplane.
19. Place the capacitors back into position in the shelf.
20. Go to the back of the bay and replace the lock washers and nuts onto the
capacitors.
NOTE:
The nut that secures the capacitor has slots on it that allow it to slide over
the spade wings on the capacitor lead.
21. Attach the leads in the back. Red is for -48A, black is for -48ARTN, grey is for
-48B, grey with black stripe is for -48BRTN.
22. Replace the back cover.
23. If you did not attach the leads in front in Step 18, then attach them now.
