The 1-way add, drop, and through cross-connections may be used to provide the
following:
■ Bridge cross-connections: In Release 4.1, bridge cross-connection is
limited to a drop cross-connection and a superimposed through
cross-connection sharing the same source (drop and continue). The drop
cross-connection and through cross-connection share the same incoming
STS-3 tributary of OC-48 high-speed line 1E or 1W. For example, Figure
8-3 shows incoming service STS-3 tributary 3 of OC-48 high-speed line 1W
cross-connected to outgoing service STS-3 tributary 3 of OC-48
high-speed line 1E. Incoming service STS-3 tributary 3 of OC-48
high-speed line 1W is also cross-connected to service low-speed interface
slot 1A.
