Maintenance Description
Issue 8.0 July 2002
9-15
DS3 loopback A DS3 loopback is in effect. DS3 signals
coming from the cross-connect panel are
preempted by the loopback.
DS3 path unequipped A path unequipped signal has been
detected on an incoming OC-48 line.
Likely cause: A cross-connection was
deleted in an upstream node.
DS-NE not reachable One of the network elements in the ring
network has not been provisioned “DS-NE”,
far end communications has been disabled
to the “DS-NE”, or communication to the
provisioned “DS-NE” has been interrupted.
duplicate node ID defined A recently entered node identifier (NID)
value is a duplicate of the NID of another
network element in the same OC-48 ring.
duplicate TID defined A recently entered target identifier (TID)
value is a duplicate of the TID of another
network element in the same OC-48 ring.
EC1 loopback An EC-1 loopback is in effect. EC-1 signals
coming from the cross-connect panel are
preempted by the loopback.
excessive holdover The network element was either manually or
automatically switched to internal
synchronization and has remained in that
synchronization mode for 24 hours. This
excessive time (holdover) may cause
degraded performance on the transmitted
and/or received signals.
Likely causes: Failure of TG3 or RCVR
(when looped timed) circuit packs, or failure
of an external synchronization reference.
extra traffic preempted The extra traffic routed over the protection
tributaries (9 through 16) has been
preempted by a line protection switch.
fan failure There is a tripped circuit breaker or defective
fan assembly.
FT-LBA fan failure There is a tripped circuit breaker or defective
fanassemblyattheFT-LBA.
FT-LBA fuse/power failure The FT-LBA has a blown fuse, a power
failure to a shelf, or a power failure within the
bay.
FT-LBA 1EW failure Failure of the 1EW LBA.
