12. Added External Control Support for FEMTO Preamplifiers: The variable gain FEMTO preamplifiers
can be controlled remotely through digital logic, such that the gain and bandwidth selection can be done
through the R9 software. Additional cabling is available from RHK for powering the FEMTO preamplifiers
from R9 (RHK part # 28202881) and for communications with the variable gain preamplifiers (RHK part #
28202882).
13. Added External Hardware Item for AFM Cantilevers: if known, the Cantilever Spring Constant in
N/m and Detector Sensitivity can be input such that the signals that are displayed to the user in physical
units (forces in Newtons, distances in nm).
14. Script Conditionals Added: The new Script Condition item allows new possibilities in procedure
control. The software now allows the user to type in specific scripting commands and change the
program behavior based on the outcome of those scripts. The output of the script must be a TRUE or
FALSE for this item to work properly. Please contact RHK Support for more information on this advanced
topic.
15. Simplified R9 Controls in Procedures: Set, Sweep, and AWG, allows the given value to be set in
three different ways. Set is the most simple where it sets the value instantaneously. Sweep allows the
value to be ramped linearly at a given rate or over a given time. AWG – Arbitrary Waveform Generator is
a newly added mode which allows the user to sweep a custom generated waveform.
16. Graph Windows have a Smaller Minimum Size.
17. Improved Monitor Display Items: The data will now be averaged between readings instead of
displaying single readings at periodic intervals. Also, the Digital Monitor item has been fixed and will
conveniently update its value and unit using the same method that is used to display the numerical values
and units on the text entry boxes throughout the rest of the software.
18. Newly Savable Parameters in SM4 Files: include, but not limited to, lock-in filter settings, oscillation
amplitudes and frequencies.
19. Default colors of secondary line scans are displayed in red by default to make it more easily
distinguishable from the primary line scan. It was always configurable, but now defaults such that they
are different.
20. Stricter Memory Validations for Procedure Measurements: improved validations help to better protect
the system from memory leaks, resulting in a more stable software.
