Operations and Maintenance Manual Operator Functions
Version 1.2 - June 2004 8 - 77
NEEDS ASSISTANCE: YELLOW FLASHING, ALARM SOUNDS
Each time the "Operator Instruction" message is displayed on the control computer
screen (requesting operator attention to move the machine into the next state or to
offer information) the tower light will change to flashing yellow within five seconds of
the screen’s display of the message. The five second delay before the light begins
flashing and the alarm begins sounding permits the operator to respond before the
alarm sounds. Acknowledging the request by touching a button or an inactive portion
of the menu screen will clear the "Operator Instruction" message from the screen and
clear the "Needs Assistance" state.
End of cycle reached and dressing disk replacement requests are examples of this state.
NEEDS ASSISTANCE, ACKNOWLEDGED: YELLOW STEADY, NO
ALARM SOUNDS
Currently, the only condition that uses this state is the "Pause" mode. With this
condition, the operator has put the machine into a Pause state (no wafers are being
processed), and the operator mush release the Pause before the machine can continue.
Acknowledging a steady yellow light state requires simply touching a button for action
or touching an inactive area of the screen to let the machine know an operator is
present and aware of the request for attention. Because this same action clears an
"Operator Instruction", there is only one state that is an acknowledged assistance
request.
