d. Using a 3/16-in. hex key and one of the 1/4-20 bolts (from the bolt and nut
pairs included in the fringe plate tool kit) mount the probe fixture to any
one of the six holes in the upper left spindle grinding wheel backing plate.
Position the probe such that the probe bellows is as close to the backing
plate as possible without touching it.
Notes:
If the diamond wheel is not installed, use the nut included with the bolt to
secure the probe fixture.
The probes will stay on the grind wheel backing plates throughout the
remaining initial adjustments.
3. Position the grind wheel by rotating it manually until the goal is met:
GOAL: The probe should be as close to the edge of the plate as
possible while avoiding the four bolt holes in the fringe
plate (approximately 5/8 in. from the edge of the fringe
plate).
Note: If the grind wheel won't rotate freely, confirm that clean dry air
(compressed air) is ON and supplied to the air bearing.
4. Power up the machine by following procedures detailed in the Operator
Functions chapter of this manual.
