Chapt er 1 8 Installing and Configuring a Dual-
Projector Setup
This chapter provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring two
IMS2000s for a dual-projector setup. It also explains how to create a basic playlist.
In a dual projector IMS2000 setup, the two boards are identical regarding firmware and
software but differ in regards to serialization. The primary IMS2000, referred to as the
IMS2000-SM (security manager) in a dual projector configuration, is interchangeable
with a standard IMS2000 and can be used in a single projector setup.
The secondary IMS2000, the IMS2000-LD (link decryptor), does not require storage for
and ships without hard drives. It is serialized differently in the factory which enables the
unit to operate as the secondary in a dual projector setup. This IMS2000 can only be used
as the link decryptor board and cannot be changed to become a standard IMS2000 or
IMS2000-SM.
In this section, the primary IMS2000 is referred to as the security manager, and the
secondary as the link decryptor.

18.1 Required Materials
The following materials are required to complete the installation:
• IMS2000 security manager (quantity: 1)
• IMS2000 link decryptor (quantity: 1)
• Series 2 digital cinema projectors (quantity: 2)
We recommend using the same projector type and model for both IMS2000s.
• KDM for dual projection (quantity: 1)
