44 IP INTERFACE COMMANDS
An IP address may be used for management access to the switch over the
network. You can manually configure a specific address or direct the switch
to obtain an address from a BOOTP or DHCP server when it is powered on.
An address for this switch is obtained via DHCP by default for VLAN 1. You
may also need to a establish a default gateway between this device and
management stations that exist on another network segment.
IP INTERFACE
There are no IP addresses assigned to this switch by default. You must
manually configure a new address to manage the switch over your network
or to connect the switch to existing IP subnets. You may also need to a
establish a default gateway between this device and management stations
or other devices that exist on another network segment (if routing is not
enabled).
This section includes commands for configuring IP interfaces, the Address
Resolution Protocol (ARP) and Proxy ARP.
