Data-aided Es/N0 estimation in SCCC and DVB-S2 3.3.11.3
SDSY worked on an improved version of the estimator, specifically for the SCCC and DVB-S2
modulation schemes. These evolved modulation scheme are based on symbol-framing, with robust
headers. In both standards, the headers are Pi/2 BPSK-modulated, and are guaranteed to be error-free
well-below the threshold of the lowest ACM.
The developed algorithm recovers and decodes these robust headers to estimate Es/N0. This provided
a better estimation of Es/N0 for low values, as seen on next figure.
