Collision avoidance (only 840D sl)
10
10.1 Collision monitoring in the machine operator area:
With the aid of collision avoidance, you can avoid collisions and therefore major damage
during the machining of a workpiece or when creating programs.

Software option
You require the software option in order to use this function: "Collision avoidance
(machine, operating range)"

Machine manufacturer
Please refer to the machine manufacturer's specifications.
The collision avoidance is based on a machine model. The kinematics of the machine are
described as a kinematic chain, to which different protection areas for machine parts and
tools are assigned. With the help of collision pairs, two protection areas are monitored for
collision.
The "Collision avoidance" function regularly calculates the clearance of these protection
areas during machining. When two protection areas approach one another, and a specific
safety clearance is reached, an alarm is displayed and the program before the
corresponding traversing block is stopped and/or the traversing motion is stopped.
Precondition
● The collision avoidance has been set up and a active machine model is available.
● The setting "Collision avoidance" has been selected for the operation mode AUTO or for
the operation modes JOG and MDA.
Procedure

1. Select the "Machine" operating area

2. Press the <AUTO> key.
