Uncrating procedure (outboard motor
without lower unit)
Wear gloves to avoid injury from sharp
steel edges while uncrating.
1. Check:
Crate for shipping damage
If any damage is found, consult your
Yamaha distributor.
2. Remove:
•Top cover
•Frame
•Wrapping
Be careful not to damage the outboard mo-
tor.
3. Check:
Outboard motor for concealed damage
If any damage is found, consult your
Yamaha distributor.
4. Remove:
Top cowling “1”
•Shroud cover2
5. Install:
Special service tool
When lifting the outboard motor, make sure
to use the specified special service tool.
Other bolts and hanging jigs could bend or
break, causing the outboard motor to fall.
6. Install:
Lifting harness “1”
(to the lifting eye “2”)
7. Apply tension to the lifting harness.
Make sure that the lifting harness does not
contact the bottom cowling rear cover.
