To use the <Tab> key to do keyword auto completion:
Switch(config)# copy tftp r<Tab>
Switch(config)# copy tftp running-config
You do not need to type in the entire commands; you only need to type in enough characters for the CLI to recognize the
command as unique. The following example shows you how to enter the show running-config command:
Switch(config)# sh ru
Note: If you want to stop displaying the information, press keyq” to escape.
1.4 Command Line Editing
Before you press <Enter>, the current command line can be edited using special keys including
arrows and <Ctrl> keys. The following table describes the special keys and their function
supported by the CLI:
Keys Function
<Ctrl>-B;
Moves the cursor back one character
<Ctrl>-D Deletes the character at the cursor
<Ctrl>-E Jumps to the end of the current command line
<Ctrl>-F;
Moves the cursor forward one character
<Ctrl>-K Deletes from the cursor to the end of the command line
<Ctrl>-N;
Enters the next command line in the command history
<Ctrl>-P;
Enters the previous command line in the command history
<Ctrl>-U Deletes from the cursor to the beginning of the command line
<Ctrl>-W Deletes the last word typed
<Esc> B Moves the cursor backward one word
<Esc> D Deletes from the cursor to the end of the word
<Esc> F Moves the cursor forward one word
<Backspace> Delete the character before the cursor
<Del> Delete the character at the cursor
1.5 Requirements
Workstations running Windows XP/Vista/7/8/, Windows 2003/2008, MAC OS X or later, Linux, UNIX, or other
platforms are compatible with TCP/IP protocols.
Workstations are installed with Ethernet NIC (Network Interface Card)
