the instrument and an external computer with Windows operating system. Remote
access via an external computer with Linux/Unix operating system is performed accord-
ingly.
Accessing Operating System
The operating system can only be accessed if an external keyboard and/or a mouse is
connected. Windows XP provides an on-screen keyboard that can be operated using a
mouse, thus enabling operation by mouse only. An external keyboard is recommened for
extensive entries.
Default password
Remote-access and file access require the user "instrument" with default password
"instrument".
2.7.1 Using a Web Browser for Remote Access
The instrument can be remote-accessed via any Web browser, like Windows Internet
Explorer or Mozilla Firefox for instance.
To remote access the instrument via Web browser:
1. Connect the instrument and the remote computer to a LAN, see chapter 2.6.1, "Con-
necting the Instrument to the Network", on page 43.
2. Instal the Java Runtime Environment JRE on the remote computer.
3. Type the instruments' IP address in the address field of the Web browser on your PC,
e.g. http://10.111.11.1
The "VNC Authentication" screen appears.
4. Enter the password and select "OK".
