The two phase-to-phase VT connection is often referred as “open delta” (ANSI)
or as “V” (IEC) connection. The relay measures all three phase-to-phase voltages
using only two primary VTs. The relay will calculate the phase-to-ground voltages
internally, with the assumption that the three-phase system is balanced, i.e. residual
voltage is zero.
