Chapter 5 Parameters Definition

• Rate Units
Note that Gamma is sum of all gamma detectors.
The Background Trend Data Log is set to “File (All Zones)”, the Background Trend
Data Log (filename bkgnd.csv) provides a history of background count rates for each
zone. Sum zones are trended the same way as detector(s) or detector section(s) that
make up the zones.
The data column headings include Gamma Bkg 1, Gamma Bkg 2, etc. The last
column heading is Rate Units, for cps or cpm.
Each subsequent row of data contains the average background count rate for each
zone during the time interval specified in “Background Trend Log Period”, including
the end date and time of the interval.
Contaminated Results Data Log
The Contaminated Results Data Log (filename CONTAM[*][*].CSV) provides the
details for every occupant contaminated result. The file destination is selected as
“File”, “Print”, “File & Print” or “None”. If a print option is selected then the files
DLC_Begin.txt and DLC_End.txt are inserted at the beginning and end of the
printout, respectively. These files are located in the CUSTOM folder (usually
D:\MonitorProgram\CUSTOM\).
The column headings and associated data format are:
Badge ID: User ID as entered using the badge scanner or keypad, if enabled.
Position: Indicates the monitoring position (1 or 2) that resulted in the
Contaminated decision. On 2-Step monitors, Position 1 is the first monitor cycle;
Position 2 is the second count; 1-Step monitors always indicate Position 1.
BKG n Is the average background rate used for zone #n (this is the Rb value
since it is used to determine Net rate (Rb = RB × Self Shield Factor).
NET n: Is the net count rate above the background for zone #n.
UTP n: The Used Trip Point (UTP) is the value compared with the Net Rate to
make the Clean / Contaminated decision for zone #n. Refer to Alarm Trip
Points on page 286 for a full explanation of this term.
For sum zones, the BKG and NET data are obtained by summing the counts for
the detector(s) or detector section(s) that make up the zone.
The above three columns are repeated for all other zones.
Rate Units: The units (cps or cpm) for reporting count rates are specified.
Count (s): The final column contains the counting time used for this result so that the
use of Extended Count Time can be determined.
